Play Ball!

Wheelchair football

Physical therapy and occupational therapy students playing wheelchair football on All Sports Day

On my blog, I talk a lot about wheelchair sports including basketball and tennis. But, have you heard of wheelchair football? That’s right, there is such a thing as playing football while in a wheelchair.

Approximately 100 students from the occupational therapy and physical therapy programs at MUSC participated in All Sports Day, which showcased a variety of sports that can be played from a wheelchair.

The students also participated in adapted cycling using hand cycles to race around the track. Members of Achieving Wheelchair Equality, including myself, helped demonstrate the importance of staying active while living with a disability.

About Tuesday Talk With Alex

Born in Charleston, SC, I was injured in a motor vehicle accident when I was nine months old. I acquired a C5-C6 spinal cord injury. I'm now 30 years old and I do not let my disability deter me from acheiving my goals and enjoying life. I will be sharing my experience of living with a spinal cord injury.
