We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect weekend for the James Island Connector Run! The weather was beautiful and we had a record number of participants at the race. I don’t know the final totals yet, but more than 1,400 people were registered. All proceeds support the Gavalas Kolanko Foundation, which provides scholarships to college students with physical disabilities.
Many scholarship recipients were at the race including Micah Greene from Trident Technical College. Micah enjoyed being at the race and appreciated seeing everyone supporting students with disabilities.
Other members of the disability community were also there to join in the fun. Tink Wallace and John Bryant rode across the James Island Connector with hand cycles, and they both came in first place for the female and male categories, respectively.
On behalf of the race committee, we would like to thank all of the participants and volunteers for making the 17th annual James Island Connector Run successful. Without your help, we would not be able to support such a worthy cause.
